Use of the CMPL 'lightbox' facility is very straightforward, and largely
intuitive. However, the information on this page includes some subtleties which may
not be immediately apparent. You may therefore find it helpful to print this page
for future reference.
To use the lightbox facility, you need to register in our Gallery and log in .
This is a very quick and simple procedure.
Your CMPL 'virtual lightbox' is accessible from our Gallery pages and is used in
exactly the same way as you would use an ordinary lightbox to view transparencies.
It provides a convenient way of earmarking images which are of interest to you, and
gathering them together in one location for further viewing.
Beneath each thumbnail image in our Gallery is a Lightbox button
which allows you to add the image to your personal lightbox. (Conversely, by
clicking the button again, you can remove the image from the lightbox.)
By clicking on the 'Play' button on the lightbox you can also view your chosen images
as a 'slide show' displaying each image for approximately seven seconds. ( The slideshow
repeats until you press the 'Stop' button.)
You can email your lightbox to yourself, to provide a note of items which are of
interest to you. The act of emailing your lightbox causes it to be indexed and saved
on our server, so that it remains accessible for a period of 90 days. When you have
emailed the lightbox, you can then set up as many additional lightboxes as you wish by
simply repeating the procedure. (Why not try setting one up now?)
Unless you decide otherwise, your lightbox is yours alone. Once you have emailed it to
yourself, you can come back to it time after time and find your chosen images still there,
ready for further viewing. You can update the contents of your lightbox whenever you wish
and email the new collection of images to yourself, as before. In this way, you can
effectively have as many lightboxes as you require. (Each collection of images will,
however, be deleted automatically after 90 days.)
You can also email lightboxes to friends or colleagues, enabling them to view each
collection of images via an automatic link to our site. (This also allows them to
use the full range of options on the site.)
Please note that all of these facilities are linked to your lightbox on the
CMPL server and are therefore subject to the 90 day expiry rule.
To provide a more permanent record of selected images, you may prefer to use the very
simple 'zip' download option which compresses the contents of your lightbox into a single
'zip' file and transfers it to your own computer. You will of course require an
'unzip' utility such as 'WinZip', to decompress the files after downloading. (You
can obtain a free evaluation copy of the 'WinZip' program by going HERE .) Again, you can repeat this 'zip' procedure
as many times as you like, storing each of your lightboxes on your own computer for future
reference.
Our downloadable 'preview' images, which are of relatively low resolution, can be
opened in Adobe Photoshop or most other image editing packages. They may be used
freely for reference or for 'comping' purposes, provided the source is acknowledged. They
may not however be published, whether in hard copy, electronic or any other format,
without specific authorisation from CMPL.
Under no circumstances may CMPL's web address or other visible watermarking be
obliterated or removed from preview images. (Transparencies or high resolution digital
images supplied for publication do not, of course, incorporate a visible watermark.) |
